Therapist and Coach
Anxiety and Confidence Specialist
Combining therapy with coaching allows for a different approach to therapy. Often clients report that sessions help them as they are more conversational, interactive and solution focussed. I often work with people who feel that traditional therapy didn't work for them.
Common areas of work are anxiety, low self esteem, ADHD help, childhood trauma - please see 'Specialist areas of work' under 'Services' section. I can help you heal pain from your past, rebalance unhelpful and outdated belief systems about yourself and the world to bring real, visible and lasting change. We can explore a painful childhood, we can work to heal you from stress and burnout, support you in depression, we can create a sense of reconnection with the world. I can also help you set goals, help you gain confidence and give you tools to be effective in the workplace or other areas of your life. Please see my Specialist areas of work below.
My sessions are many things - they are a safe space, a place of understanding and non judgement, somewhere where you can be seen and heard. There may be silence for reflection, but there also maybe energetic conversation, exchanging of knowledge and experience. There may be sadness, but there may also be laughter.
I do not believe a client should fit the approach, I believe the approach should fit the client, therefore my clients experience of sessions will be attuned appropriately to their needs and their personality.
If you feel this resonates with you, contact me today and lets explore how we can work together.
My clients come from all walks of life, they are people looking for change in their lives. My most common areas of work are with people that suffer from low self esteem, anxiety and a lack belief in theirselves. Working with people to learn to understand their unique qualities, to quieten the negative voices in their heads and replace them with positive ones and to see the resulting change is a privelege I never tire of. I will help you to find the appreciation of the innate and unique qualities that are inside of you and be confident enough to show your true self to the world. This is a collaborative process that is walked at your pace, so you will always feel safe, held and in control of your own process.
Many clients have low self esteem from childhood trauma. This could be family issues, abuse, bullying, problems regarding education. I help clients who feel that their past is controlling their future, regain their sense of self and purpose and learn to empower theirselves. I believe whatever situation we are born into, shouldn't limit who we become.
A lot of my client base come from the creative world, film and tv professionals, artists and musicians. I believe that I am conducive to these clients because of the manner in which I work, using visuals and metaphors in order to help clients understand what's going on for them. When clients talk to me, my mind often forms pictures of my understanding and by reflecting this back to my clients it allows them a richer perspective of their experience. After all, the English language as descriptive as it is, does not have enough words to describe the full range of human experience.
I also attract many clients for workplace coaching due to my previous role in Financial Service Management and I also work with corporate clients offering coaching and therapy. Regular work I undertake are confidence in the workplace, female empowerment and promotion goals.
Whatever you are feeling about your life right now, do not be afraid to reach out for help. Many clients often feel that they are beyond help and their life is hopeless, before you resign yourself to that belief, contact me for a free 30 minute consultation and let's see how we can change that.
Many potential clients reach me because they are unsure whether they need therapy or life coaching. Typically people see a counsellor because they wish to resolve something in their past or present such as a relationship issue or a past trauma. Coaching is often regarded as future orientated - reaching a goal.
My experience and the reason that I am dual trained is that in practice, many feel that those two distinct approaches are not workable. Many people do not reach a goal because of something they have not resolved from their past and therefore we have to go back in order to resolve the blockage. A professional coach in this situation should refer their client to a therapist at this point. Unfortunately such referrals often do not happen and a coach with no therapeutic training will try and 'fix' the client with limited results at best.
Conversely, clients coming to the end of therapy may wish to explore their future with a new sense of self - they may be asking the question 'what now?'. Clients also report that they find traditional therapy too passive and they are looking for a more dynamic approach to their therapy and may be looking for tools and ideas they can work on outside the therapy space - this is where coaching can help. For instance, anxiety can be treated with active tools to help cope with the condition whilst delving deeper into the psyche for the cause.
The combination of counselling and coaching allows for a more extensive and inclusive learning experience. Your life-coaching can also have a therapeutic element. Your therapy can also be practical and pro-active.
